MERCHANT NAVY AFTER 12 SCIENCE, IMU CET EXAM, DNS-Diploma in nautical science

The candidate who opts for Diploma in nautical science must have a minimum of 60% in PCM. (PCM criteria changes from company to company.)

The minimum age should be 17 yrs and the maximum age should be 25 yrs on the date of commencement of the course. Relaxation of 5 years is available for SC/ST candidates and 2 years for Girl candidates.

The process for admission in the August batch (DNS)

The first thing applies to sponsorship.
The sponsorship forms of different companies and colleges will be out by April.
Be active during April and daily visit their website.

Once you apply for companies and colleges, you will get the dates for the exam (online or offline depending upon COVID)
If you clear the exam then you will receive the dates for the interview.

IMU CET

If you clear the interview then do the medical.
If you clear the medical then appear for IMU CET.
It is mandatory to appear for IMU CET.
Get a good rank and take admission in imu affiliated institute or imu college.

The forms for imu cet will be out by June tentatively and the exam will be held in July.

Sponsorship exam syllabus:
Based on the 10+2 syllabus. Study well
Also, prepare aptitude and general knowledge.

What is asked in an interview?
Personal questions
Physics
Chemistry
Maths
English
General knowledge (mostly about seas and canals)

What all do they check in medical:
Eyesight (6/6) (very important)
Spirometry
Ecg
Exercise
Running on treadmill
Blood test
A hearing test (important)
Xray of chest
BMI (very important)
Check for kidney stones.

If anyone opts to do DNS from IMU college,
he/she might apply for counseling which will be held by IMU after IMU CET. For seating in counseling, one needs to pay 10000rs and select the IMU college in which you are interested to take admission.
IMU will publish the list according to rank and reservation.
If your name isn’t on any list then Rs9000 will be refunded.
(There is no placement for DNS in IMU institute from last few years)
